Answers to Frequently Asked Questions from Parents:
Does LEP cost money above my tuition payment?
Yes, The Learning Enhancement Program is an additional program offered at the Campus School. Parents sign a contract and pay on a nine-week basis. LEP offers both individual and small group instruction. Please call 615.966.6472 for more information.
Does LEP automatically mean that my child’s grades will improve?
Instruction through LEP in no way guarantees an improvement in grades although that is certainly one of the goals. Each student brings his or her own set of learning issues, and those may include poor study habits and or a lack of motivation. Sometimes a student may have to unlearn bad habits or relearn basic information before that student can truly learn the material. Our goal is true comprehension and learning, not just a grade on a paper. LEP works with all kinds of students but acknowledges that a student must work outside of LEP in order to make an improvement in the classroom.
Does LEP cover all instructional areas?
Most areas are covered. LEP tutors in foreign language and in most of the Sciences. Math and English instruction is offered at all levels.
Is my child required to have a certified learning disability in order to receive services?
Absolutely not. LEP services students with a variety of needs. The Campus School recognizes that each student learns differently and sometimes individual instruction is warranted.
Can LEP give my child an IQ test?
No, a psychologist is needed for that type of test. LEP does have many different achievement, reading and language instruments that can help to identify problem areas.
Why would a child in early elementary school need tutoring?
Each child is unique and will grow and develop at his or her own rate. Sometimes, a child will not master concepts necessary to move ahead in reading or math. The Learning Enhancement Program offers specific, very individualized programs to help children fill in the gaps in order to succeed in those key areas. |
